International conference “Free and informed consent as a core principle of the protection of human rights in the field of biomedicine” in Minsk

Ronalds Rozkalns, attorney at law, as expert participated in international conference “Free and informed consent as a core principle of the protection of human rights in the field of biomedicine” in Minsk, Belarus, on 8 December 2017.

The conference was organised by the Council of Europe in cooperation with the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Belarus.

The conference was dedicated to the key principle of human rights’ protection – informed consent – enshrined in the Oviedo Convention and supported by the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights.

The conference covered  the implementation of the principle of informed consent from the various perspectives, such as clinical practice, biomedical research and organ and tissue donation.

Ronalds Rozkalns gave a presentation “Free and informed consent for medical intervention”.
